El Llibre de les Punxes is an ongoing project in the intersection of an album and an art piece.
It begins with a handmade book created by my father during my childhood . The book articulates a personal father–son mythology through a vivid collage made of old photographs, drawings, and small objects.
This project is an attempt to engage with its meaning, by approaching, responding to, and extending the original work through sound.
The Instrument
To engage with the original book, a second book is used: an old atlas, repurposed as a resonant body. It does not follow a traditional lutherie model, but draws from string instruments and experimental sound objects. A book is traditionally a container for silent words. Here, that function is inverted, it becomes a source of wordless sound.
Sound work
The resulting work takes the form of an album, where each piece relates to a page, but also contributes to a wider dialogue.
The work does not aim to resolve or fully grasp its source. Instead, it moves around it, inhabiting the space between intention and reception, father and son, where meaning remains partially out of reach, yet its message is deeply felt.
